Destiny 2 Ascending Challenge Week 2 Guide (August 13-20): Where to go and what to do

We are fast approaching the end of the opulent season of Destiny 2 and the launch of Shadowkeep, the next big expansion. If you are still working to reach the maximum power level of 750 in front of Shadowkeep, the weekly Ascendant Challenge and its powerful equipment release are always practical.

This week, the curse has been reset in Dreaming City, which means that the Shattered Throne dungeon is no longer available. A feat for anyone who must finish it to land the masterpiece of his majestic Solstice of Heroes armor. This also brings us back to the week 2 challenge, which is available one more day before Tuesday's weekly reset. Below you will find a comprehensive guide on where to go and what to do to complete this week's bonus and win some powerful equipment.

The Ascending Challenge always involves moving to a portal to the Ascending Plan, but the details of what you do are completely different from week to week. For starters, you will need a consumable called Queensfoil Tincture. With a dye in your hand, go to the Garden of Esila area near the southernmost point of the map, as shown in the image below. Consuming the Tincture will provide you with the Ancestry Buff that allows you to see a Taken portal somewhat hidden on a cliff. Jump in and you will be teleported to the Ascendant plane. Lost Sanctuary.

Once there, you'll have to push back – or just avoid them – while trying to secure three. Arc loads around the area. Once you take one, head to the central starting area near the giant Blight Ball. Go to the bright spot at the bottom to mop up the load you're holding. Repeat the operation two more times and you will receive an infinite reserve of super energy that will help you kill any remaining plugs in the area. Once they are processed, you can complete the bonus (giving you dark fragments and powerful equipment) and open a chest.

Since the bonus (not the chest) offers powerful equipment – a reliable way to increase your Power level – this is an activity you will definitely want to participate in once you get the chance . But keep in mind that it's a challenge, so be sure to prepare yourself. This can be done solo, but having multiple teammates to grab the charges and attract the attention of the enemy can help tremendously.

Meanwhile, if you're still looking for gear in The Black Armory, be sure to check out our guides for the Izanagi rifle and the Jotunn fusion rifle. Do not bother to collect powerful equipment bonuses to hand over next week at the beginning of the new season – Bungie releases an update that changes things so you can stock equipment down for a big one whiplash as soon as the maximum level is raised. Like everyone else, you'll need to play Season of the Drifter content to improve your level.
