An adjustable window screen is something that you can easily install and replace with very little effort. You will find that the frame itself is quite durable, but the screening material will have to be replaced every two years. As long as you have the right tools and the right know-how, you will find that it is something that is not very difficult to do.
Step 1 – Open Lever Window
The first thing you are going to have to do is get your screwdriver to be able to open the adjustable window screen spline. This is the part of the window that will cover the border of your frame. Be sure to be careful whenever you do this so as not to damage the frame or window. Go slowly and do not use too much force. You will then remove the spline and get rid of the damaged fabric on your screen.
Step 2 – New screen
You are now ready to go ahead and get your new screen. It's a good idea for you to make sure that you have the screen of the right size so that the adjustments are minimal. You will need to measure the surface and make sure you get a screen that is not too small. You can not make settings on a screen that is too small.
Step 3 – adjustment
Once you have chosen your new screen, you will put it on your frame. Use your scissors to cut it accordingly. You will need to make sure that it is a little bigger than your frame. Cut the corners too. Your screen should be about an inch larger than the frame all around. You can adjust if necessary after finishing the initial cut.
Step 4 – Window Screen
You are now ready to force your window screen into the spline portion of your adjustable window screen. Your spline screen roll will allow you to force it with less effort. When you force yourself not to force too much, do not exert too much pressure, otherwise you will break not only the screen but also the spline. Just put it in place and stretch it if necessary.
Step 5 – Finish
Once your window screen is in place, you can use your utility knife to cut off any extra screens you have left. Make sure you move slowly while cutting so you do not cut too much. If the screen you are working with is metal, be very careful because it can easily cut you off. You should wear your gloves for this task as they will protect you from particularly sharp metal parts.
