Yankees’ Didi Gregorius is spreading the news again on Twitter

The Yankees’ first win of the second half produced Didi Gregorius’ first emoji-filled tweet of the 2019 season.

Gregorius, who started the year on the injured list as he rehabilitated from Tommy John surgery on his right elbow, had enthralled Yankees fans in prior years by celebrating wins with tweets saluting the contributions of his teammates and assigning an emoji to each teammate. He hadn’t tweeted this year, however, and he refused to engage in questions about why he had stopped. And then came Friday night.

With his trademark “#startspreadingthenews” tag, Gregorius tributed winning pitcher Domingo German with an ant emoji (your guess is as good as The Post’s), used a parrot to acknowledge Edwin Encarnacion’s three-run double (Encarnacion rounds the bases on homers with an imaginary parrot on his right shoulder) and thanked Chad Green, who pitched the final two innings, with broccoli (a green vegetable).

Here’s how it looked:

Asked if he would divulge his secret over why he didn’t tweet after first-half wins, Gregorius laughed and told The Post, “There was no secret. I wasn’t playing for the start of the first half. I didn’t want to make it about me.”

Now that he’s fully caught up, apparently, with a new half afoot, Gregorius is ready to start spreading the news once again.
